Carbonfiber ProtoPasta PLA 750g
Stiff, Carbon Fiber for for the masses... no heated bed required!
Proto-pasta Carbon Fiber PLA is made from top quality PLA and 15% chopped carbon fibers. Prints made with CFPLA are demonstrably more rigid, providing excellent structural strength and layer adhesion with very low warpage. It has a beautiful matte black finish with a slight sheen due to the embedded carbon.
Available in 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm diameters. 250 g is an un-spooled loose coil. 750 g and 2 kg sizes are on a plastic spool*. 2 kg is "made to order". All material is sealed with descant in a plastic bag.
*750 g 1.75 mm spools measure 8" in diameter with a 2" barrel diameter, 4" hub, and 2" traverse. 2 kg spools are 10" in diameter and 4" traverse.
For high performance, print with carbon!
In filament form, CFPLA is slightly more brittle than standard PLA, and requires extra care when handling.
Processing is comparable to standard PLA. No heated bed required. Due to increased brittleness, process may be less consistent on smaller nozzles and/or bowden type machines.
In our experience, good results were achieved when printing at 190C-210C using a .5mm nozzle and direct-drive spring loaded pinch-roll style extrusion head.
**This filament is more abrasive than standard PLA. Prolonged use may result in accelerated nozzle wear.
